Learning to drive in Dumfries and Galloway can be a great experience. With it's stunning scenery, winding roads, and friendly locals, it's no wonder that so many people choose to learn to drive here. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced driver, Fast Pass Driving Courses has a wide range of intensive driving courses available to help you get on the road.
The first step to getting your full UK driving licence is to take the theory test. This consists of a multiple-choice test with 50 questions, covering topics such as road signs, the highway code and the rules of the road. The pass mark for this is 43. And then a 'Hazard Perception' test, where you need to score at least 44 out of 75 to pass. Watching a series of 14 different video clips, you'll need to identify hazards - both potential hazards and developing hazards. The quicker you spot the hazards, the more points you'll score! You need to pass both parts of the theory test to get your theory test certificate. Once you have this, it's valid for 2 years. Meaning if you don't pass your practical driving test within this period, you'll have to resit the theory test.
The roads in Dumfries and Galloway can be challenging, but with a weekly driving course with Fast Pass Driving Courses, your driving instructor will ensure you're fully prepared for the practical driving test.
The practical driving test centre is in Castle Douglas, located on Buchan Street.

For example, the world's first savings bank opened its doors in 1810, the world's first steam boat was manufactured in 1788, the world's first peddle cycle was manufactured here and you can find the oldest post office in Britain here, if you need to change any details on your driving licence.
The world's first submarine was manufactured in the area. It also has good rail and road links to the large cities in Scotland and England, and you can take a ferry to Ireland via the port of Stranraer.
The Mull of Galloway is the most southern point of Scotland and on a clear day, you can see Ireland, the Isle of Man and the Lake District.
